Letter from Bishop Ken to Diocese Churches:

Dear DRM Churches,

To be a people of hope in this world that has, often, lost hope is a powerful gift.

Biblically, hope is not simply a wish for the future – it is an assurance because our hope is not based on something that will happen in the future, our hope is rooted in what has happened already in the resurrection of Jesus.  The new creation is guaranteed because it is just an outworking of the resurrection.  Just like Paul tells the Philippians that he is confident that what God began in us will be brought to completion – the grace of God, making us new creations, is fully present with us today, but it will only be fully realized in the new creation.  Biblically, hope always has a present experience, a present participation in and outworking of the New Creation.

This is why hope compels us to action – for the marginalized, the hopeless, the least, the lost, and the last.

Being anchored in hope enables us to be generous instead of grasping.  Generous with our resources, generous with our justice, generous with our love, generous with our time.

I am writing to encourage that generosity – and specifically to encourage that generosity with Rwanda.  The Rwandans are not only our brothers and sisters, they are also our fathers and mothers in the faith who took great risks and paid a great price that there could be a biblical, missional Anglican church in the U.S.  The economic losses here, while significant, pale in comparison to the losses in Rwanda where so many were already living on the edge.

I encourage you to watch the video from Archbishop Mbanda above.

To encourage generosity, as well as to model it, the Diocese of the Rocky Mountains will match gifts given to Rwanda, up to $25,000.  $50,000 will make a tremendous difference in Rwanda.  The funds will be overseen by Archbishop Mbanda.

Please make checks out to the Diocese of the Rocky Mountains with RWANDA the memo line, and mail to:
