International Anglican Church’s Run for Rwanda is in it’s 11th year. This Run, occurring simultaneously in Colorado Springs, CO and Kibali, Rwanda has raised funds for the Ruhenda Health Center and now seeks to continue the work toward the goal of funding the new Kibali Thriving Center.

The funds raised over the past 10 years have been used to build a health clinic serving 12,000 people in & around Kibali.  At the beginning of 2018, the clinic was officially recognized by Rwanda’s government as a fully-functioning health center. Therefore the project that started ten years earlier was completed!

Health Center Services Include:

  • Maternity Ward
  • Nutrition Center
  • Lab and Pharmacy
  • HIV Counseling and Testing
  • 10 In-Patent Hospital Beds

The health center is addressing malnutrition, helping to insure safe and healthy deliveries, and contributing to the reduced incidence of life-threatening childhood diseases through achieving nearly 100% success in its vaccination program.

Clearly, the Run for Rwanda has been a big success!
Starting this year, and for the next five years, we plan to fund the Kibali Thriving Center. Joint meetings were held, a proposal was written and land was purchased!

The Kibali Thriving Center will provide in a Christian context:

  • A wholesome place for children, youth and adults to meet
  • A sports field
  • Vocational training facility
  • Discussion groups to face the challenges of Kibali’s rapidly changing society
  • Classes on entrepreneurial thinking
  • Income generating activities
  • Savings programs
  • Classes and opportunities for hands on learning of agricultural techniques to increase crop yield
  • Group sessions on stewarding traditional values and customs

Runners and walkers simultaneously lined up to run in Cottonwood Park in Colorado Springs on the streets of Kibali, Rwanda, with all event proceeds going to establish a health clinic and to fund other much-needed development programs in a rural community outside Byumba.
